About the company
Our sister company in Australia (H&L POS) is the leading provider of point-of-sale solutions to the hospitality industry for over 30 years now and is embarking on a new era of product growth, building a new generation of POS and Inventory Management software, and is looking for an enthusiastic Senior .NET Developer to join its Product Development team.
What you'll do
You'll play a key role working on exciting new projects as well as existing products. You will be working with Product Owners and a team of Software Engineers to continue developing our .NET/C# solutions.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of coding practices and how to apply this to real world situations.
Responsibilities
- Development within a team environment, including the front and back ends of customer-facing and internal applications. The majority of this work includes .NET Windows based services and applications.
- Working to release delivery deadlines
- Participate in any Agile ceremonies such as daily standup, sprint review, spring planning, reviews, where required
- Providing guidance to the team on best practice in software development
- Provide suggestions for continuous improvement of software development practices and participate in achieving the improvements
- Assisting other software developers with either troubleshooting issues or in the setup of frameworks needed for technical improvements
- On occasion, you may be required to speak directly with a client and discuss concepts or application behaviour at their technical level
- In conjunction with other software developers, working with the Operations and Support team on any escalations to development
- Troubleshooting and problem analysis
- Adherence to coding standards and patterns and practices and contribution to establishing these where required
- Contribution in design workshops and working through requirements of software deliverables.
Key Skills
- Database development in SQL Server
- Strong attention to detail, i.e. getting software behaving to desired requirements with minimal rework
- Strong oral and written communication in English
- Strong interpersonal skills
Experience
- At least 5+ years experience with SQL, C#, .Net, ASP.Net, Entity Framework, MVC, JQuery, HTML 5, CSS, Bootstrap, WCF, Web Services, Web API’s, XML
- Creating automated testing of your applications
- Code versioning, ticketing/issue management systems (i.e. Jira)
- Knowledge of Agile and Lean product development principles
Nice to haves
- Excellent understanding of microservices architecture
- CI/CD or DevOps Experience
- History of applying good engineering practices in delivered software
- Event-driven architecture experience
- Experience in building responsive Web applications
- AWS and hosting experience
- Ability to take guidance and direction from others as well as provide such guidance where it is your strength
- Understanding why you build things (technology is great, but the things we build don't exist inside a vacuum)
- Has the desire to have a positive impact on our culture (the better our people are, the better our product is)
- Has been building solutions with a user focus (it's all about the user)

Work set-up:
- Work-from-home with monthly onsite visits
- Will follow Australian timezones and observe Philippine public holidays
- Will have a colleague in Manila on the same role
