Role accountabilities:

  • Manage the delivery of cost management in small/medium commercial/retail/residential developments or significant components of larger cost management assignments
  • Work within established systems and budgets to produce reports and forecasts and track budgets, overseeing costing and variances in order to manage and control cost variables
  • Deliver a number of small to medium cost projects and assignments or significant components of larger assignments, ensuring appropriate use of resources and budgets to deliver the required scope of work within set deadlines
  • Analyse and review a range of data and documents to collate key themes and trends, using this analysis in conjunction with own knowledge to provide advice and make recommendations to support cost and commercial management decision-making
  • Provide specialist technical advice to senior management on issues relating to cost/commercial management, providing solutions and actively sharing knowledge in order to support successful delivery
  • Manage relationships and collaborate with clients and external stakeholders, in order to ensure client satisfaction and create new business opportunities
  • Understanding of change, risk, and contingency management processes under construction forms of contract (NEC, JCT, FIDIC)
  • Experience of contract reporting, payment, variations, change, claims management and final account settlement.
  • Experience in delivering accurate forecasting, analysis, and reporting.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or equivalent relevant discipline
  • Experience in commercial management of projects, including implementation of effective cost and commercial management processes that can be shown to have delivered value for money for the client
  • Experience in contract administration processes, predominantly in relation to cost management, payment, variations, change management and final account settlement within a commercial industry
  • Experience of working on infrastructure and/or construction projects from pre-tender stage through to successful contract award and post contract administration.
  • Possessing clear communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Membership of the RICS or similar recognised body
  • Familiarity of the public sector policies, processes, and procedures.
