Construction Engineer / Architect

About the role

PJA Construction is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Engineer/Architect to join our dynamic team in Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental. As a key member of our Civil/Structural Engineering department, you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of our construction projects, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety and efficiency.

Qualifications:

1. Educational Background:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.

2. Experience:

• Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in construction engineering or site supervision, preferably in residential development.
• Strong background in construction project management, site inspections, and administrative reporting.
• Experience with construction standards and codes in the Philippines.

3. Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., AutoCAD, Excel, MS Project).
• Familiarity with Philippine construction laws, building codes, and safety regulations.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction process.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, plans, and blueprints.

4. Communication Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Filipino.
• Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, progress updates, and technical documents.
• Strong coordination skills with architects, contractors, suppliers, and clients.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
• Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to resolve site issues efficiently.
• Ability to analyze data, track project progress, and propose effective solutions.

5. Teamwork and Leadership:

• Capable of working collaboratively with a project team and managing construction personnel on-site.
• Leadership experience in guiding and mentoring junior engineers or site supervisors is an advantage.

6. Other Requirements:

• Must be physically fit and willing to work on-site in various locations.
• Flexibility to work overtime or weekends when necessary to meet project deadlines.
• Can work in Cagayan De Oro City or Dumaguete City.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct site inspections and ensure that construction work adheres to the approved plans, specifications, and safety standards.
• Prepare and submit detailed administrative reports, progress updates, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth workflow.
• Monitor construction materials and labor to optimize project costs.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant local laws, permits, and regulatory requirements.
