This role plays a key part in ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality financial information in a fast-growing business environment. What are you expected to do?
As An Assistant Accountant, Your Responsibilities Will Include
Property Accounting
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, income journals, and occupancy/rate journals.
- Prepare key income and expense entries including:
- Letting fee income
- Departure cleaning expenses
- Prepayment expenses
- Assist in the preparation of Profit and Loss statements, including variance analysis against budgets and forecasts.
- Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Raise invoices for contractual service fees, cost recoveries, and caretaking fees; monitor and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Assist Property Managers in account reviews, budget preparation, and forecasting.
- Apportion group expenses (e.g., photocopying, telephone costs) across relevant properties.
- Support the Australian and New Zealand Community Spirit Program accounting tasks.
- Assist in processing corporate credit card transactions.
- Support the collation of audit samples for interim and final audits.
- Review online payments for creditors, trust funds, and bond refunds across properties.
- Provide backup support for Accounts Payable Officers and Trust & Treasury Accountant, including corporate bank reconciliations and trust payment setup.
- Perform general administrative and ad-hoc duties as required by the Finance team.
- Understand and adhere to UniLodge’s and Essence’s Workplace Health & Safety responsibilities and ensure compliance with all applicable legislation.

- You hold a Business (Accounting) degree or equivalent.
- You bring at least 2-3 years of experience in property and corporate accounting, preferably Australian or Global AccountingHigh attention to detail with a strong commitment to task completion.
- You're comfortable doing some P&L and balance sheet accounting for a small range of properties, along with procedural tasks like group journals, prepayment reconciliations, invoicing, and assisting across a variety of tasks.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including intermediate-level skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain policies and procedures professionally.
- Customer-focused mindset; able to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and maintains a positive attitude.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proactively communicate any issues that could impact the business.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by sharing ideas to enhance profitability and service delivery.
- Willingly perform reasonable duties as required by senior management.

What happens after you submit your application?
The Whole Process Takes Around 4 Weeks
- There will be 3-4 interviews and a possible assessment from our client partner. You will undergo an initial interview, a culture interview, and 1-2 interviews with our cool client. This will run for about 1-2 weeks but we will let you know if we need to ramp it up. Be yourself and have fun.
- We will constantly communicate with you as to the development of your application. You can also directly communicate with us to ask us about the status of your application.
- If all goes well, we complete the reference check and provide other necessary requirements so we can offer you the job right away.
