General Ledger Accountant

The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records for multiple educational institutions across Germany. The role supports month-end and year-end close activities, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance with accounting policies and statutory requirements. Working within a shared services environment, the General Ledger Accountant partners with stakeholders across multiple schools to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and other general ledger transactions for multiple entities.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including bank, intercompany, revenue, payroll, fixed asset, and other general ledger accounts.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes across multiple schools and legal entities.
- Review financial transactions and ensure accurate coding and allocation of income and expenses.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, investigating variances and resolving discrepancies as required.
- Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts, audit schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and local school administration teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records.
- Support intercompany accounting activities and reconciliation of balances between entities.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and applicable financial regulations.
- Maintain accurate financial records within the ERP and accounting systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency, and standardization across the finance function.
- Provide financial information and analysis to management and key stakeholders as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 2+ years of experience in General Ledger Accounting, Financial Reporting, or Record-to-Report functions.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, month-end close processes, and account reconciliations.
- Experience working with ERP or accounting systems; experience with Sage, Agresso, SAP, Oracle, or similar systems is advantageous.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis functions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet reporting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Work Arrangement
- This is an onsite work for 4 months and will transition to a hybrid schedule (twice a week onsite) after passing the 3rd-month review.
- Work Location: Robinsons Zeta Tower, C5 Road, Ugong Norte, Quezon City. Office is near IPI Pasig and Tiendesitas. Office is accessible from Eastwood, C5 Road, Ortigas CBD, and Rizal areas.
- Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM PH time
