About the company:

A growing tech-enabled B2B platform aims to improve service levels and expand access to new services for over one million sari-sari stores in the Philippines. The company provides infrastructure and tools to transform these stores into comprehensive service hubs for grassroots communities. The platform offers affordable inventory, working capital loans to sari-sari store owners, whilst generating crucial data and insights for manufacturers and distributors.

Job Summary:

The Verticals Business Head is responsible for leading and driving the strategy, operations, and profitability of a specific business vertical. This role requires a strong balance of strategic vision and operational execution, with full accountability for P&L, business growth, client relationships, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy & Business Growth
  • Define and execute the business strategy for the assigned vertical in alignment with overall company objectives.
  • Identify new opportunities, partnerships, and markets to drive revenue growth.
  • Analyze industry trends and competitor landscape to shape vertical positioning.
  • P&L Management
  • Own and manage the vertical’s profit and loss.
  • Drive revenue targets while optimizing costs and ensuring profitability.
  • Prepare regular performance reports and forecasts for senior management.
  • Client & Business Development
  • Build and nurture strong client and partner relationships within the vertical.
  • Lead negotiations and close strategic deals to expand business.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and retention through high-quality delivery.
  • Operations & Delivery
  • Oversee day-to-day operations within the vertical, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, finance, HR, etc.) for seamless execution.
  • Establish processes, KPIs, and dashboards to track performance.
  • Leadership & People Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the vertical team to achieve performance goals.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability and growth.
  • Ensure talent development and succession planning within the vertical.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in managing business units, verticals, or large-scale projects, with proven success in delivering growth.
  • Strong commercial acumen with P&L ownership experience.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
  • Deep understanding of the vertical’s industry dynamics and market trends.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with a results-driven mindset.
