About this role:
The Senior Bookkeeper will provide advanced nonprofit bookkeeping and accounting to nonprofit clients. This role must be tech-savvy, and highly detail-oriented with finances. This role will report directly to the Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage and record accounts receivables and revenue transactions from various platforms into QBO.
· Apply invoice payments and import revenue from various platforms using 3rd party apps to QBO.
· Accurately record accounts payable, expenses, and payroll allocations for multiple clients.
· Monitor and categorize transactions in expense and receipt management systems to QuickBooks Online.
· Record balance sheet adjustments such as prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, and net assets allocations.
· Download, archive, and add supporting documents to transactions in QuickBooks Online and cloud storage system.
· Inquire about transactions with incomplete information; follow up rigorously with internal managers and clients until the information is obtained.
· Update bookkeeping automation, including bank and credit card feeds, bank rules, and transactions from 3rd party apps.
· Maintain and adhere to all Goshen's financial policies and procedures, including ensuring that record-keeping is based on U.S. GAAP, A-133 audits, and federal, state, and other required supplementary schedules and information.
· Ensure adequate supporting documentation is approved by client for processing and thoroughly reviewed to ensure that all expenses will pass all independent and governmental audits.
· Communicate with Goshen managers about any areas of concern or any significant adjustments that may need to be made to revenue or expenses for multiple clients.
· Remain up to date on best practices in nonprofit finance, business systems, internal control measures, and state and federal law regarding nonprofits.
· Participate in weekly team and other ad-hoc meetings.
· Perform other assigned duties if applicable.
- Qualifications / Skills:
· A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
· 3 years of nonprofit accounting experience
· Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
· CNAP Certification or Bookkeeping Certification is a plus
Required Technical Skills:
· Proficiency in using systems such as QuickBooks Online, Asana, Divvy, Hubdoc, and Ramp
· QuickBooks Online Certification or Advanced QuickBooks Online Certification (proof will be required)
· Experience using Google Workspace Apps (Google Sheet, Google Meet, Gmail, Google Docs, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
