The Opportunity:

ECI has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Patching Engineer, who will work on incidents and requests related to patching. They will be focusing on patching both Windows and Linux-based operating systems, and other technologies.

In this role, the successful candidate should be a self-starter, must be comfortable working in a very fast paced, busy environment in the rapidly growing IT services industry.

This is a Hybrid role for employees commutable to ECI's India (Philippines) office

What you will do:

  • Manage and deploy Windows updates and security patches to servers and workstations using ConnectWise Automate and SCCM.
  • Manage and deploy Linux patches and updates using appropriate tools and methodologies (e.g., yum, apt, zypper).
  • Develop and maintain patching schedules and procedures for both Windows and Linux systems to minimize system downtime and ensure business continuity.
  • Thoroughly test patches in pre-production environments to identify and resolve potential conflicts or issues before deployment to production systems.
  • Monitor patch deployment progress and verify successful installation across all platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Windows and Linux patching issues, including failed installations, conflicts, and performance problems.
  • Maintain accurate records of patching activities, including patch versions, deployment dates, and affected systems (Windows and Linux).
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to coordinate patching activities and ensure minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security vulnerabilities and patches released by Microsoft, Linux distributions, and other vendors.
  • Proactively identify and report potential security risks related to unpatched systems (Windows and Linux).
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of patching processes and procedures for all supported operating systems.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other IT staff on patching-related issues for both Windows and Linux.
  • Document troubleshooting steps and resolutions for common patching issues across all platforms.
  • Create reports on capacity and compliance for patching
  • Work on P1/2 incidents as required
  • Develop internal SOPs and standards for patching operations
  • Timely compile specific reports based on different metrics if required

Who you are:

  • Candidate should have 8+ years of total experience in technology
  • Minimum 5 years patching.
  • Proven experience as a Patching Engineer or similar role, with a focus on mixed Windows and Linux environments.
  • Strong understanding of Windows Server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022) and desktop operating systems (Windows 10, Windows 11).
  • Strong understanding of Linux operating systems (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian, SUSE).
  • Hands-on experience with ConnectWise Automate for patch management and automation.
  • Proficient in using SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) for patch deployment and management.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills in Windows Server and Linux environments, including identifying and resolving patching-related issues.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft patching methodologies and best practices.
  • Knowledge of Linux patch management tools and best practices.
  • Understanding of security vulnerabilities and patch management principles across platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with one of following ITSM Platforms is preferred: ServiceNow (preferred), ConnectWise, Remedy, HP
  • Experience with patching technologies and methodologies
