About The Role
Senior Design Engineers have higher level of design engineering expertise and assume greater responsibility for ensuring the development of robust and manufacturable designs. Leveraging their extensive knowledge and skills, Senior Design Engineers tackle complex problems while coaching and guiding less experienced engineers to ensure high-quality output. As key team members, they exhibit independent thinking and action, while also demonstrating the ability to escalate issues when necessary. Specifically, Senior Design Engineers are expected to:

About The Role

As key team members, they exhibit independent thinking and action, while also demonstrating the ability to escalate issues when necessary. Specifically, Senior Design Engineers are expected to:
- Deliver product design & assemblies to production on time, on cost, on quality and on specification.
- Robustly plan and prioritize tasks based on risk level, resolution, maturity and interdependency of tasks.
- Identify and design test requirements to replicate anticipated usage and optimise products to be robust and high performing. Develop strategies to gather the required data for target setting.
- Create and review detailed design specifications such as 3D models, CAD drawings, Bill of Materials and Technical Specifications, including tolerance stack analysis and wide range of design for X considerations.
- Regularly participate & contribute in design & technical reviews with technical Leads, Engineering Managers & head of Department.
- Build functional prototype products suitable for testing, review and demonstration
- Perform and review analysis on test failures and develop efficient solution.
- Perform Sustaining work to continuously improve product quality, reduce costs, increase production throughput, and evaluate potential alternative suppliers or contract manufactures.
- Coach less experienced team members and ensure their work adhere to design standards and guidelines.
- Collaborate and communicate with cross functional team to ensure effective and timely inputs.
- Lead or contribute to team department or functional level change projects as needed, to enhance organizational efficiency and develop new capabilities.
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Science discipline or equivalent
- 5+ years’ of experience in design (plastic, rubber or metal) and product development with good track record, working on complex and challenging technical problems with DFM, DFA, DFC considerations.
- Able to operate in a dynamic team or work as an excellent individual contributor delivering product to production meeting time, cost and specification.
- Practical knowledge of 3D CAD and 2D drawings including GD&T and tolerance stack.
- Practical and methodical approach to design using an iterative development cycle of prototyping, testing and analysing of data/result.
- Creative and considered approach to problem solving, following clear design processes
- Skills to communicate your ideas to others within your team and across the business
- Passion in engineering with desire to constantly improve. Demonstrate how you had made a difference.
- Knowledgeable and understanding of a broad range of engineering and technological disciplines such as flow, thermals, acoustic and electronics will be an advantage.
- Good understanding of a broad range of manufacturing techniques and standard industrial measurement methods.
