Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Compliance Analyst (L4) to join our team at MBPS. In this role, you will be responsible for providing support to the Market Conduct Compliance Insurance Examination Team. The role will entail coordinating communications to external distribution partners, helping with Insurance Examination set up, posting review evidence collection, and drafting closing reports as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage the Insurance Examiners shared Outlook mailbox.
  • Communicate directly with contracted firms, and advisors for compliance policies and procedures as escalated during the contracting process.
  • Ensure adherence to follow-up timelines for evidence collection and closing of items, while diligently monitoring requests and escalating when needed.
  • Review compliance policies and procedures sent in by distributors for completeness.
    • A good understanding of procedures with a compliance expertise.
    • Confirm receipt of the compliance documents from the advisor.
    • Log the date of receipt in the compliance tracking system.
    • Utilizing AI to validate all elements are present.
    • Ability to adapt and understand learning is ongoing as regulations change.

  • Manage escalations to the Insurance Examination team.
  • Prepare distributor pre-work for business practice reviews, including:
    • Set up compliance folders.
    • Researching historical conduct and complaints
    • Order advisor client listings.
    • Validate licensing using internal systems and external provincial regulator websites.
    • Adhere to compliance records management protocols.
    • Manage collection of distributor action plans, outstanding policies and post review evidence as needed.
    • Assist Manager, and Insurance Examiners with updating existing documentation and templates when changes occur.
    • Participation in Market Conduct, Compliance projects as needed.

    Qualifications

    • Bilingualism (French) is an asset.
    • Experience in insurance industry is a definite advantage.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook), ChatMFC, Sharepoint sites and validating license information on Provincial Regulatory websites.
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple deadlines at the same time.
    • The successful candidate will have to communicate to both internal and external business partners.
    • Ability to deal with a wide variety of personalities in a professional manner.
    • Conceptual understanding of the corporate compliance methodology and program objectives.
    • Must accomplish objectives through influence, not direct authority.
    • Must manage a substantial number of requests, while tracking and staying within the follow-up guidelines.
    • Must work in an environment that is physically remote from the team.
    • Amenability and readiness to work onsite and from home anytime (dependent on business need AND/OR current external environment/situation)
