Job Description
- Supervise and manage the operations of the wastewater treatment plant, ensuring optimal treatment processes, compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and control the plant's daily activities, including the treatment of industrial wastewater, chemical dosing, filtration, and sludge management.
- Perform quality control tests to assess water quality and ensure that effluent meets discharge requirements.
- Oversee routine maintenance of all plant equipment and machinery, including pumps, motors, and filtration systems.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend the lifespan of plant equipment.
- Lead and train plant staff on proper safety practices, emergency protocols, and operational procedures.
- Compile and submit regulatory reports, maintaining records for water quality, maintenance logs, and incident reports.
- Troubleshoot operational issues, identify improvements in process efficiency, and suggest upgrades to enhance treatment capabilities.
- Ensure the treatment plant operates in a cost-effective manner while maintaining high standards of water quality and safety.
- Work closely with internal departments, contractors, and external regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Manage the scheduling of routine inspections, servicing, and audits of the plant and its systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience (3+ years) in wastewater treatment plant operations, preferably in an industrial setting.
- Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and regulatory standards.
- Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations regarding wastewater management and discharge.
- Experience in managing and supervising teams in an industrial setting.
- Proficient in the use of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and other operational software.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with internal teams and external agencies.
