R&D Manager (Systems & Process)

- JOB OBJECTIVES
1.1 To spearhead and overall manage the Systems & Processes of R&D department and works with minimal supervision and plays a critical role in driving product, package and processes innovations, ensuring food product quality, and leverage on technology for advancement.
1.2 To handle project initiatives related to R&D technical services with focus on Systems, Process and Laboratory Administration, to include but may not be limited to BOM Management, Sensory Evaluation, Laboratory, Facility and Warehouse Management, Document Management, Technical Analysis Administration and BPO representation.
1.3 To fulfill the requirements of the Food Safety Management System in collaboration with TQ.
2. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
2.1 Communication
2.1.1 Coordinates and communicates with respective business partners and various stakeholders, as aligned with R&D team regarding technical updates related to projects handled and restricted to own category.
2.1.2 Collaborates with cross-functional teams to align product, packaging and processes initiatives and strategies.
2.2 Accountabilities
2.2.1 Develops long-term plans, roadmaps and technical strategies, and provides input to the business strategy of the categories being managed.
2.2.2 Creates Systems and Processes plans and technical strategies for its own function by recommending and creating policies/procedures, programs and resource requirements.
2.2.3 Prepares detailed project plans for his/her own projects, budget and resource requirements for the product category assigned, documents all technical requirements related to product, packaging and processes requirements.
2.2.4 Identifies opportunities via digitization and digitalization to further enhance process efficiency and improve current processes by leveraging on new trends and technologies.
2.2.5 Evaluates emerging technologies and market-based trends in his/her category and assesses implications and applies action plans intended for the category handled.
2.2.6 Manages the R&D budget effectively under Systems & Processes category, requires forecasting of expenses, and optimizing resource allocation to support innovation and development projects.
2.2.7 Leads technical reviews and co-approves SOPs, technical specifications and other R&D related documents.
2.2.8 Manages the accomplishments of the deliverables of his/her own team and his/her own projects from concept development to implementation
2.2.8.1 Allocates work as a team leader, responsible for the completion and quality of output of the total category.
2.2.8.2 Contributes to technical direction of the projects and coordinates work as a team leader and responsible for the completion and quality of output.
2.3 Authority
2.3.1 Technical authority on projects being handled related to product, packaging and processes development requirements.
2.3.2 Co-approves with R&D Category Manager regarding documentation requirements via Ensur.
2.3.3 Co-approves with R&D Category Manager and R&D Group Head on the BOM accuracy, management and maintenance.
3. FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
3.1 EUCATION - Degree in BS Food Technology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related courses.
3.2 EXPERIENCE:
With specialized skill combining knowledge of food science, R&D processes, and systems management.
Managerial experience in systems and process management is highly preferred.
Minimum of eight (8) years related work experience in a manufacturing organization
Minimum four (4) years’ work experience in Food Manufacturing industry, with a strong understanding of product development, formulation, and testing.
With experience in improving processes specific to food safety and regulatory compliance (e.g., HACCP, FSMA, ISO standards).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferably with minimum two (4) years in managerial or supervisory role
