RAN Planning & Strategy Engineer

Job Description

Design and oversee comprehensive solution frameworks for consolidating sites, adding new outdoor locations, and deploying in‑building infrastructure. Lead feasibility studies and consolidation assessments—evaluating technical viability, cost, coverage, and timeline. Balance site consolidation with new and expansion of outdoor/in‑building site selection to optimize network capacity and resource utilization.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist in demand forecasting and integrate those forecasts into capacity planning processes
• Support long-term strategic planning by providing data-driven insights on capacity constraints and expansion opportunities.
• Develop and execute redeployment strategies—relocating assets efficiently to maximize value and minimize cost.
• Create cost-benefit analyses and ROI models to support redeployment plans.
• Design a structured contingency plan to transition sites to a primary vendor, including clear objectives to minimize operational disruption, ensure compliance, and control costs
• Prepare ongoing status reports for consolidation, highlighting risks, mitigation strategies, and milestones.
• Conduct post-transition to evaluate outcomes, capture lessons learned, and strengthen contingency frameworks
• Develop a precise geographic polygons representing areas existing, extended or new as network basis for coverage improvement
• Coordinate with domains to calibrate simulation models using empirical test results
• Oversee real-time monitoring of data targets including pass/fail criteria and coverage completeness percentages.
• Conduct comprehensive inventory of network components (sites, capacity, coverage, O&M status)
• Assess financial implications—OPEX, depreciation, energy, and asset salvage value
• Assess traffic trends, subscriber usage, and device dependencies
• Define shutdown scenarios, phased region-based shutdown, service prioritization, fallback options
• Assess current and forecasted traffic loads to compute bandwidth requirements for each site.
• Collaborate with network planning and operations teams to align bandwidth provisioning
• Prepare final configuration changes to network elements to accommodate capacity requirements
• Update configuration databases and documentation to reflect changes in network topology and settings
