The role
The Operations Manager is responsible for the complete lifecycle management of the Coconut Oil Mill and associated Agribusiness ventures. This mandate begins with the pre-development stage, including critical input on facility design, equipment selection, and staffing models. Once operations commence, the focus shifts to maximizing production efficiency, ensuring quality assurance, and controlling costs, while also ensuring regulatory compliance and guiding personnel to meet all commercial objectives.

The role

Once operations commence, the focus shifts to maximizing production efficiency, ensuring quality assurance, and controlling costs, while also ensuring regulatory compliance and guiding personnel to meet all commercial objectives.
Your Responsibilities
Pre-development and Planning
- Collaborate on facility layout, design, and production flow.
- Participate in the selection and procurement of all necessary machinery, tools, and materials.
- Provide input on manpower planning, job roles, and recruitment for technical and operations teams.
- Establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and comprehensive safety protocols.
- Coordinate with contractors and consultants to ensure the site's operational readiness.
- Skills: Project Management, Procurement, Design Collaboration, Manpower Planning, Safety Protocol Development.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily operations to ensure smooth, cost-effective, and timely production.
- Oversee all stages of the coconut oil extraction and refining process.
- Ensure optimal throughput and equipment utilization.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and execute corrective actions to meet production goals.
- Skills: Operations Management, Process Monitoring, KPI Tracking, Resource Utilization.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase yield, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs.
- Promote and implement continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, 5S).
- Skills: Process Improvement, Lean/5S, Waste Reduction, Continuous Improvement.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to maintain product standards in accordance with local and international food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP, ISO).
- Ensure adherence to environmental and regulatory standards, including proper waste management and sustainability initiatives.
- Skills: Quality Assurance (HACCP, GMP, ISO), Food Safety Compliance, Environmental Stewardship, Regulatory Adherence.
- Work with the Maintenance Department to schedule preventive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot machinery issues to minimize downtime.
- Ensure all plant equipment operates safely and efficiently.
- Skills: Equipment Management, Preventive Maintenance, Technical Troubleshooting, Safety Compliance.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor all plant staff (production supervisors, operators, etc.).
- Monitor workforce performance, address issues, and ensure effective training and development programs are in place.
- Skills: Team Leadership, Mentoring, Performance Management, Staff Training and Development.
- Coordinate with procurement and logistics to ensure an adequate supply of raw material (e.g., copra or whole coconut).
- Manage storage and the dispatch of finished goods.
- Monitor inventory levels, stock movement, and warehouse operations to minimize spoilage and ensure accurate reporting.
- Skills: Inventory Management, Supply Chain Coordination, Logistics, Spoilage Control.
- Assist in preparing operational budgets.
- Manage costs effectively to ensure profitability.
- Track expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Skills: Financial Management, Budgeting, Cost Control, Resource Efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Agricultural Engineering
- Business Management (with technical experience)
- A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Industrial Management is an advantage
- Minimum of 5–7 years of relevant experience in plant operations, manufacturing, or agro-processing (preferably in coconut oil or similar industries).
- At least 3 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Experience in process improvement, supply chain coordination, and cross-functional team management is essential.
- In-depth understanding of coconut oil processing (including drying, expelling, refining, and packaging).
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations (DENR, DOLE, FDA).
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process optimization methodologies is an advantage.
- Familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems used in coconut oil production equipment.
- Licensed Engineer (PRC), if applicable to educational background.
- Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) Certification
- GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) Certification
- Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Certification from DOLE
- Willingness to be assigned on-site and work extended hours, including weekends, if required by operations.
- Physically fit to handle the demands of plant visits and fieldwork.
