Position Summary
The position will be responsible for participating in the ongoing operations of the Security Operations Center team and other related cybersecurity tasks. The SOC actively monitors for cybersecurity and other threats through multiple security platforms, threat hunting and intelligence, and user reports to initiate and escalate investigations and perform incident handling where required. Members of this team will verify security monitoring, operations, and compliance are ongoing, with communication and coordination taking place within the organization where needed.
Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor the environment to detect and mitigate cybersecurity-related issues.
- Monitor security consoles related to email, secure web gateway, endpoint detection and response (EDR), managed detection and response (MDR) and data loss prevention (DLP).
- Respond to security alerts and handle incidents quickly and efficiently and escalate incidents to other teams as needed.
- Perform incident investigations and threat hunting to maintain our cybersecurity posture.
- Handle assignments such as tracking security training compliance, managing phishing simulations, security reporting and metrics, and coordinating with the team during security exercises.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or relevant industry experience and certifications.
- 3+ years’ of experience in working in SOC or other cybersecurity roles.
- With cybersecurity certification such as Security+, CySA+, or GSEC.
- Technical knowledge of cybersecurity principles related to IT Infrastructure including endpoints, networking, email security, internet security, and common security threats.
- Practical knowledge of email, internet, endpoint, and identity-based security threats.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Proficient in problem solving, troubleshooting, documenting, and reporting.
- Passionate about cybersecurity and interested in employing existing knowledge while developing new skills.
