LAB TECHNICIAN

Job Purpose

The main responsibilities are to:

• Conduct daily sampling activities and liaison with external laboratory as per Process Lead
• Conduct day-to-day laboratory preparations and analysis and subsequent reporting to Management
• Follow-up the reagents and consumables inventories and anticipate for upcoming purchases
• Properly maintain all laboratory equipment and online sensors at site
• During Process Commissioning/PPP, fill the role of the Laboratory technician in charge of the day-to-day operation of the plant

Key Results Area And Responsibilities

• Preparation & Execution of Commissioning works
  
  

Support the Process lead during the various process monitoring campaign before, during and after Process commissioning (raw water quality campaign, SBR colonization, Chemical dosages etc..)

Support Preliminary laboratory tests (Jar tests, Collimated Beam tests)

Support for the proper calibration & performance of the onsite analyzers and laboratory instruments including any suppliers’ liaison as may be required to maintain instruments performance.

Support for liaison with external laboratories during preliminary campaign and later for Process Commissioning & PPP.

Conduct daily sampling activities and liaison with external laboratory as per Process Lead

Conduct day-to-day laboratory preparations and analysis and subsequent reporting to Management

Follow-up the reagents and consumables inventories and anticipate for upcoming purchases

Properly maintain all laboratory equipment and online sensors at site

Support Process lead during the analysis campaigns for process ramp-up and process optimization (SBR colonization, chemical dosages, sampling campaigns etc...) before, during and after Process Commissioning.

Support other Commissioning Team departments in various tasks as assigned to him by the Commissioning Manager.

• Process Proving period
• During Process Proving period, fill the role of the Laboratory technician in charge of the day-to-day operation of the plant laboratory.
• General Tasks & HSE
• Responsible to execute any additional missions that may be required by the Commissioning Manager during the execution of the Plant Commissioning
• Follow HSE procedures and be proactive for Safety improvement throughout the plant. Responsible for the implementation of such procedures at the instruments and laboratory area.
  
  

 

Qualification needed

• Graduate level of Chemical Engineer or specialized technical competency.
• Experienced in Water Treatment Plant Operation & Process including process troubleshooting and adjustments in case of issues.
• Have experience operating a plant laboratory from its daily operation and maintenance as well as stocks management for reagents and consumables to ensure smooth running of laboratory.
• Knowledge in online sensor monitoring and calibration
• Experience in handling laboratory instruments and online sensors from major brands (E+H, HACH, SIEMENS etc…
• Proficient user of Word, Excel, Power point.
• Knowledgeable in Operation & Maintenance manuals for instruments, PIDs, contract documents, Inspection reports, Method statements, and procedures, ITP and ITR preparations.
• Knowledgeable in Instrument commissioning and Operation as well as laboratory operation
• Knowledgeable in process control and optimization
