A. General Description of the Job

The IT Manager is responsible for coordinating, planning, and leading computer-related activities in an organization. He helps determine the IT needs of an organization and responsible for implementing computer systems to fulfill the organization's information systems requirements.

B. List of Responsibilities

Operational Tasks

  • Manages the organizations software and system applications such as SAP, UMS and others
  • Provides additional tools as a work around to augment system limitations
  • Addresses queries from users and provides support regarding software functionalities
  • Communicates systems issues to third party software provider and recommends how it can be fixed
  • Identifies and acts on opportunities to improve and update software and systems applications
  • Manages and makes the needed recommendations concerning IT Infrastructure, Hardware, Equipment’s and Computer Systems
  • Develops and implements IT policy and best practice guides for the organization
  • Manages and reports on allocation of IT budget
  • Oversees and determines timeframes for major IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations and outages

Managerial Tasks

  • Coaches and mentors newly promoted leads and supervisors
  • Works with HR in creating the career path for the positions within the department
  • Works with HR in identifying the competency gaps and creating development program to address those.

C. Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience .
  • With at least 10 years of experience in a similar role and 2 years experience as a Manager.
  • Knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize
  • Strong supervisory skills (planning, organizing, leading, coaching, monitoring, and controlling).
