As an International Non-Life Underwriter based in Makati, you will play a central role in shaping the future of the organisation’s foreign reinsurance business. To excel as an International Non-Life Underwriter in this role you will bring proven experience from previous positions within non-life insurance or reinsurance environments where you have handled complex international portfolios. Your educational background—ideally rooted in business administration or quantitative disciplines such as mathematics or engineering—will enable you to approach challenges analytically while leveraging advanced cat modelling tools for precise risk evaluation. Your interpersonal skills will allow you to communicate clearly with clients at all levels; whether gathering critical data for account assessments or presenting sophisticated programme proposals backed by thorough analysis. You are adept at interpreting technical reports so as to make sound recommendations on pricing structures that balance profitability with client satisfaction. - Develop and execute comprehensive plans and strategies to achieve growth, development, and profitability targets for the non-life foreign reinsurance portfolio.
- Ensure strict adherence to risk selection criteria and underwriting guidelines for both treaty and facultative business lines.
- Monitor treaty renewal processes closely while coordinating with cedants to gather necessary information for accurate risk assessment.
- Review analytics reports thoroughly to propose final quotations, programme structures, pricing recommendations, treaty terms, and written shares within established authority limits.
- Assess facultative reinsurance offers by evaluating risk factors, terms, conditions, premium rates, retention/distribution decisions, and ensure alignment with retrocession cover policies.
- Participate actively in planning activities to align departmental goals with broader company objectives while overseeing implementation of assigned initiatives.
- Cultivate strong professional relationships with foreign cedants, retrocessionaires, brokers, regulators, and other stakeholders through regular interactions and participation in industry associations.
- Negotiate inward reinsurance contracts by soliciting new business opportunities, finalising signed shares, terms, and conditions that meet both client needs and company standards.
- Provide expert technical advice on reinsurance programmes including cost management, portfolio profitability analysis, volatility management, claims concerns, contract interpretation, and product development.
- Lead training sessions for clients as well as internal staff to promote best practices in underwriting processes while mentoring less experienced team members.

- Demonstrated experience in non-life insurance or reinsurance underwriting or other technical roles within reputable organisations handling international portfolios.
- Comprehensive understanding of treaty and facultative underwriting principles including risk assessment methodologies relevant to foreign markets.
- A minimum of a four-year college degree preferably with specialisation in Business Administration, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics or Physics which provides a solid analytical foundation.
- Proficiency in cat modelling tools used for evaluating exposure risks associated with large-scale events affecting non-life insurance portfolios.
- Exceptional communication skills enabling you to coordinate effectively with cedants/clients regarding information requirements for proper account assessment.
- Ability to interpret analytics unit reports accurately so as to recommend optimal programme structures based on authority limits set by senior management.
- Experience drafting/reviewing treaty terms & conditions as well as making informed recommendations on pricing strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Track record of building positive relationships with foreign cedants/retrocessionaires/brokers/regulators through regular engagement & participation in industry forums.
- Capacity to lead teams by setting clear annual objectives/goals/targets while motivating others through knowledge sharing & skill development initiatives.
