About Us

With branches in Rockhampton, Mackay and Barcaldine and a site office in Emerald, the Transport and Main Roads Program Delivery and Operations (PDO) Central Queensland Region (CQ Region) looks after 9076km of state-controlled roads and about 1510km of the National Road Network. This role will contribute to the development and delivery of the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP).

The CQ Region covers an area of about 604,824km2, approximately 34.9% of Queensland. Its landscape ranges from beautiful coastal areas adjoining the Great Barrier Reef and rainforests to the rugged outback with breathtaking rock formations. The region has an estimated residential population of 422,141 people.

The Role

In the role of Human Resource Advisor, you will provide high-quality HR support across the Central Queensland Region, assisting business units with a diverse range of human resource related matters.

Some Of Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Provide a proactive HR consultancy and advisory service to management and employees across the region having regard to the organisation and region's operational needs whilst operating within the legislative and regulatory framework governing public sector employment.
• Facilitate via advice, consultation, and where necessary formal assistance to management in the resolution of grievances, discrimination/harassment matters, substandard performance/conduct, and the resolution of workplace disputes.
• Develop and maintain effective networks and working relationships with local, regional and statewide stakeholders to improve internal capability and HR outcomes within the Region.
• Co-ordinate establishment and classification processes for regionally based positions including the preparation of relevant documentation to the respective delegate via the Regional Business Manager.
• Provide advice, guidance, and governance in relation to regional recruitment, selection, and appointment processes including seeking respective delegate approval for advertising and appointments.
• Initiate, develop and implement various HR initiatives to ensure effective management, consistency, and delivery across the region, including monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
• Undertake research and analysis and report on key workforce data to assist with trend analysis and the development and implementation of key strategies.
• Facilitate training programs and information sessions for regional management and staff on HR issues/topics.
• Research, analyse and interpret complex HR information to provide professional and appropriate advice (written and verbal) that meets the needs of the business.
• Prepare a range of correspondence in relation to various HR matters for internal and external stakeholders.
• Promote and reinforce the need for internal HR governance processes and continuous improvements that support effective business planning, and program/project delivery outcomes.
  
  
  

Mandatory & Desirable Qualifications

• A current Class ‘C' Drivers Licence
