Through monthly multilingual editathons and partnerships with cultural institutions, libraries, museums, universities, and international organizations including the United Nations, they have sensitized thousands about free culture crowdsourcing and worked to close multicultural and gender gaps in Wikipedia. They hold regular events globally and welcome participants of all experience levels.

Why does this role exist?
We are seeking a Grant Writing & Research Specialist to strengthen our client's funding strategy and expand their financial resources. This role is crucial for maintaining existing grant relationships through timely renewals while identifying and securing new funding opportunities. The position will enable our client to build sustainable funding streams that support their mission of increasing diverse participation in free knowledge movements and closing multicultural gaps in digital spaces.

The Impact you’ll make

Grant Renewal Management

• Assist with annual grant renewal applications


• Refresh and improve existing multi-year grants


• Ensure timely submission of all materials by March deadlines


• Track and manage grant renewal calendar

Grant Writing & Development

• Refine and enhance grant proposals with strong writing skills


• Incorporate feedback from stakeholders into grant applications


• Make strategic revisions to improve funding success


• Maintain consistent organizational voice across proposals

Funding Research & Expansion

• Identify new grant opportunities of various sizes


• Research potential funders and their priorities


• Align application strategies with funder interests


• Build a diversified funding pipeline

Budget Development (Optional)

• Assist in creating budgets for grant applications


• Develop an understanding of financial terminology


• Ensure budget alignment with programmatic goals


• Collaborate with leadership on financial planning

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required:

• Demonstrated grant writing or proposal development experience


• Strong research skills for identifying funding opportunities


• Excellent writing and editing abilities


• Experience with deadline-driven projects


• Knowledge of or interest in digital inclusion, free knowledge movements, or cultural heritage

What to expect...


Work Setup:

• Remote position


• Must have a reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace


• Required to provide own computer with Intel Core i5 or something similar or higher operating system

Working Hours:

• Monday to Friday, flexible within EST business hours (Eastern Standard Time)


• 10 hours per week

Compensation:

• $7 per hour
