Front Desk/Medical Assistant - HV Cardiology - Full-Time - Days

Job Description

PURPOSE OF JOB : A nonexempt position responsible for performing a variety of duties dependent upon assignment. Position will be assigned based on practice need and will flex between front desk and clinical area based on assessment of daily needs.

Front desk coordinator primary functions: Providing reception, scheduling, patient check-in, patient check-out, telephone service, and other patient-related services.

Medical assistant primary functions: Assist physicians with patient care and handling clerical, environmental and organization tasks.

General

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Adaptable knowledge base and communication skills to perform assignment.

• Adaptable computer skills and ability to perform functions dependent upon department assignment.
• Other duties as assigned.
  
  

Front Desk

• Scheduling, insurance verification.
• Proficiency in telephone and communications skills.
  
  

Clinical

• Patient care assisting physicians in preparing patient visits, communicating with physicians, patients, families and other health care providers.
  
  

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Education: High school diploma or GED

• Experience:
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program (or higher level equivalent.
• OR 2 + years experience working as a MA may be considered in lieu or MA program completion
• 1 + years working as a Front Desk Coordinator/ Clinical Support Specialist at any Penn Medicine entity may be considered in lieu of MA program completion.
• Additional Requirements:
• BLS/ CPR, as a healthcare provider as per the American Heart Association
• Medical Assistant Certification (Required within 90 days of hire)
