Commissioning Inspector - Solar & BESS

At Jacobs, our Power Solutions team is geared towards providing a more integrated approach offering end-to-end service to support our clients in energy networks, thermal generation, renewable generation and storage solutions space. We are helping our clients meet the challenges faced in countries and cities across the globe, providing innovative solutions from replacing conventional thermal power plants with renewable energy to developing demand side management strategies.  

We are currently looking for a Commissioning Inspector who will rrepresent the project owner in overseeing and ensuring the successful commissioning of a utility-scale solar farm and BESS. The role will be responsible for witnessing, monitoring, and verifying that all commissioning activities are executed in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the owner’s representative during the commissioning phase, ensuring all activities meet contractual, technical, and safety requirements
• Review and validate commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules submitted by the EPC contractor
• Monitor and verify field execution of commissioning activities for
• Solar PV systems
• Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
• Associated electrical infrastructure and SCADA systems
• Witness and verify functional and performance testing of systems and equipment
• Identify and escalate any deviations, deficiencies, or risks to the Commissioning Manager and project stakeholders
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants, and internal teams to resolve technical issues during commissioning
• Ensure all commissioning documentation is complete, accurate, and in compliance with project requirements
• Support the transition from commissioning to operations, including punch list resolution and final acceptance
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with the Commissioning Manager and project team
• Travel to and remain on-site for the duration of the commissioning phase, as required
  
  

Here's what you'll need

• Relevant experience in commissioning or construction oversight roles in solar PV or renewable energy projects; experience with BESS is preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field
• Strong understanding of solar PV systems, inverters, SCADA, and grid interconnection processes
• Experience working as an Owner’s Engineer or in a similar client-representative capacity is highly desirable
• Familiarity with commissioning standards, documentation practices, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA 70E)
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple stakeholders in a dynamic project environment
