Overview

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Azure SQL Database Administrator to take over the management and optimization of SQL Server instances within Azure, following an implementation by an external consultant. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the existing database environment, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. You will also be responsible for transitioning knowledge from the consultant and documenting the environment for future management

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Post-Implementation Management: Assume responsibility for SQL Server instances and databases following implementation by a consultant, ensuring smooth transition and ongoing management.
• Knowledge Transfer: Collaborate closely with the consultant to gain a deep understanding of the implemented solutions, including configurations, customizations, and specific requirements.
• Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize database performance, addressing any issues that arise and making improvements as needed.
• Backup and Recovery: Maintain and enhance existing backup, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies to ensure business continuity.
• Security Management: Ensure that all implemented security measures, including access controls and encryption, are maintained and updated as necessary.
• Issue Resolution: Address and resolve any database-related issues that emerge during or after the transition from the consultant, including performance bottlenecks and system errors.
• Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of the SQL Server environment, including details of the implementation, configurations, and ongoing changes.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Azure Cloud Engineer and other teams to ensure the SQL Server environment integrates seamlessly with other IT systems and supports business needs.
  
  

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience:
• 3+ years of experience as a SQL Database Administrator, with a focus on Azure SQL.
• Experience with post-implementation management and optimization of SQL databases.
• Proven ability to quickly learn and take over existing database environments.
• Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent certifications are highly desirable.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in SQL Server and Azure SQL Database.
• Knowledge of Azure networking, storage, and security practices.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with knowledge transfer and post-implementation support.
• Familiarity with automation tools like PowerShell and Azure CLI.
• Amenable to work graveyard shift.
• Can start ASAP.
