The Payroll Specialist opportunity is 70% functional payroll processing and 30% technical project implementation. You will be joining a global payroll team responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll for entities within OpenText as well as assisting with payroll system updates & implementations that will allow our systems to scale up consistent with Company growth.
The primary focus for the Payroll Specialist will be payroll tasks for our employees in the APJ Region, including the data input, related audits/edits of that data, relevant reporting, and interacting with other payroll team members. The project work includes assisting with organizational grown agenda – streamlining and simplification of payroll processes and tools, supporting organizational changes and priorities.
This position is accountable for providing a high level of customer service to all Payroll stakeholders, including but not limited to employees, Human Resources, Finance, and other Payroll team members with a focus on confidentiality. This position requires strong interpersonal skills and initiative as well as excellent working knowledge of payroll practices.

What The Role Offers
- Ensure process payments to employees in the APJ Region within strict deadlines.
- Operating within a Managed Services delivery model with ADP/Immedis, liaise with Payroll provider, Human Resources, Variable Compensation, and Finance throughout the pay process.
- System implementation projects.
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Audit the information that interfaces with the HR system for accuracy.
- Verification and reconciliation of each payroll run, and resolving discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Ensure that all necessary government filings and remittances relative to payroll are made on time, including but not limited to garnishments, tax slips, and taxes.
- Calculation of manual cheques when required.
- Complete the Year-End Process and file all applicable tax year-end filings.
- Identify and process taxable benefits.
- Deal with requests and correspondence promptly and efficiently.
- Assist employees with payroll requests and questions in a timely manner.
- Administration of Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) and Stock Options as related to payroll.
- Applicable year-end reporting of ESPP and Stock Options.
- Social Insurance/Pension Remittances and Reporting.
- Provide Finance with GL details and assist in reconciliations and research.
- Stay abreast of legislative changes and compliance issues.
- Handling special requests as needed (e.g., insight generation, compensation, legal inquiries).
- Continually manage end-to-end processes, assess upcoming/existing programs and processes, participate in the reviews of internal and external audit controls (SOX, COSO, etc.), and recommend changes to enhance the integrity of outputs to the HRSS programs and processes.
- Provision of subject matter end-to-end HR process expertise for assigned HR critical tasks and processes with a strong focus on delivering a quality service on time.
- Apply sound judgment and discretion with sensitive information.
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in delivering Payroll for Philippines, Australia, China, and/or Japan.
- Experience with outsourced payroll packages (ADP Globalview, Streamline, Celergo, Immedis, etc.) strongly preferred
- SAP SuccessFactors HCM experience
- Experience with projects such as implementing new payroll platforms and systems integrations
- Excellent time management skills and detail-oriented
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and as a co-operative team member
- Organized with an ability to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while working towards strict deadlines
- Strong issue resolution skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills (English).
- Proactive with the ability to take initiative
- Can work independently or as a co-operative team member
