About This Role
A GTAW Welder specializes in high-precision welding of metals like stainless steel and aluminum, typically for specialized manufacturing, aerospace, or structural projects. Responsibilities include setting up machinery, interpreting blueprints, cleaning and prepping materials, conducting quality inspections, and maintaining safety standards.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Precision Welding: Using TIG welding equipment to join thin metals, exotic alloys, or stainless steel with high accuracy.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Reading technical drawings, schematics, and welding symbols to understand specifications.
- Setup and Maintenance: Setting up machines, including adjusting gas tanks, tungsten electrodes, and regulators.
- Fabrication and Preparation: Cutting, shaping, and cleaning metal components prior to welding.
- Inspection: Using tools like calipers and fillet gauges to inspect weld quality (porosity, size, and cracks).
- Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
