They may also assist with groundskeeping, equipment operation, and record-keeping. Utility Staff often work under the direction of supervisors or managers, following established procedures and work orders.
Cleanliness
Key Responsibilities:
Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, including cleaning floors, walls, restrooms, and other areas.
Basic Repairs
Performing basic repairs to equipment, light fixtures, and other minor issues.
Grounds Keeping
Assisting with landscaping tasks like mowing lawns, trimming trees, and maintaining other outdoor areas.
Equipment Operation
Operating cleaning equipment, vehicles, and other tools as needed.
Record Keeping
Maintaining records of work completed, supplies used, and other relevant information.
Assisting With Tasks
Providing support to other staff members, including errands and deliveries.
Safety Compliance
Following all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
Specific Duties May Vary
Government Utility Worker:
May be responsible for tasks like turning lights on and off, throwing garbage, and assisting with record disposal.
Utility Worker In Construction
May be involved in construction, maintenance, and repair of infrastructure like water and wastewater lines.
Utility Worker In a Facility
May be responsible for maintaining building systems, conducting preventative maintenance, and ordering supplies.
Utility Worker In a Public Utility Company
May work at a production facility to inspect, clean, and maintain machinery.
