U.S. Tax Preparer (Drake & Xero Experience)

Location: Two weeks onsite, followed by a transition to work-from-home.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented U.S. Tax Preparer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience preparing individual and business tax returns using Drake Accounting Software and will be proficient in Xero Accounting Software for bookkeeping and financial reporting tasks. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with U.S. tax laws and delivering high-quality service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and file federal and state individual (1040) and business (1120, 1120S, 1065) tax returns using Drake Accounting Software.
• Perform accurate and timely bookkeeping and financial record maintenance in Xero.
• Review client financial records, identify missing documentation, and request necessary information.
• Maintain organized digital files and ensure data confidentiality and security.
• Conduct preliminary tax research as needed to address client-specific scenarios.
• Communicate directly with clients to clarify data and provide updates on return status.
• Stay updated on IRS regulations, changes in tax law, and compliance requirements.
• Support tax planning efforts and prepare client-ready tax summaries or reports
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of U.S. tax preparation experience.
• Proficiency with Drake Accounting Software and Xero Accounting Software is required.
• Strong understanding of U.S. tax code and compliance requirements.
• Experience preparing returns for individuals, small businesses, and corporations.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple client deadlines.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA designation is a plus but not required.
• Experience working in an o shore/remote environment.
• Familiarity with other accounting/tax platforms such as QuickBooks or IRS e-File systems is a plus.
