On behalf of our client, we are seeking a detail-oriented and self-sufficient Tax & Accounting Associate to support their CPA office. In this role, you’ll be responsible for tax return preparation, financial reporting, and general accounting duties. You’ll operate independently while collaborating closely with the client’s internal team to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely service delivery. This role is ideal for someone who communicates clearly, adapts quickly to team dynamics, and thrives in a structured remote work environment.

- Tax Preparation & Accounting
- Prepare individual and business tax returns accurately and efficiently
- Assist with general accounting work throughout the year
- Stay current on relevant tax law changes and adapt quickly
- Financial Reporting & Bookkeeping
- Generate financial reports and perform bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Use and manage client records in Canopy Pax/Accounting and CCH Access (Wolters Kluwer Core)
- Tools & Technology
- Collaborate with internal team members via Microsoft Teams
- Track assignments and progress using project management tools like Canopy
- Team Collaboration & Communication
- Work independently while staying aligned with team goals
- Communicate proactively with team members, raising blockers or questions clearly
- Learn and integrate into the company culture and operating norms quickly
- Research & Innovation
- Support light AI prompt work or research as needed
- Support miscellaneous or one-off tasks as assigned by leadership
- Flexibly contribute to emerging priorities or special projects as needed
- Proven experience in U.S. tax preparation (individual and business returns)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Teams)
- Familiarity with Canopy Pax/Accounting and CCH Access (Wolters Kluwer Core)
- Solid understanding of U.S. tax laws and the ability to adapt to tax code changes
- Availability to work with an overlap in Eastern Time Zone hours
- High level of personal responsibility, professionalism, and follow-through
- Interest or background in AI tools and prompt engineering
- Experience in fast-paced or growth-focused organizations
- Completion of DISC assessment (required before placement)
- Previous experience in a remote work setup or managed staffing model
- Team-oriented mindset with a strong sense of work-life balance and integrity
