Underwriting Assistant

A) Position Objective:
The position is responsible for providing support and assistance to the Underwriter. The underwriting assistant assists underwriters in evaluating and assessing the risks associated with the insurance applications, helping to make informed decisions. Conducts a policy audit to ensure that all issued policies follow the underwriting guidelines.
B) Roles and Responsibilities:
1. To provide immediate assistance to the Underwriter thru the initial assessment of risk, CAT exposure, accumulation and preparation of quotations/proposals.
2. Conducts initial review of the New and Renewal policies to help the Underwriter in deciding whether there will be adjustments on the premium or if still eligible for renewal.
3. Generate and prepare reports and other statistical reports.
4. Post audit the policies issued by Branches to ensure that underwriting guidelines are followed and report to the underwriter any violations made.
5. Providing immediate assistance to IPPS by checking issued policies and to ensure that all issued Fire/Property and Engineering Lines are in accordance with the proposed terms and that all warranties and clauses are properly applied.
6. Other tasks that the Underwriter may assign from time to time.
C.) Minimum Job Requirements:
Education: Graduate of any 4 year business course
Work-Related Experience:
o With at least 1 year related work experience
o Preferably with NON-LIFE INSURANCE background
o Has experience in dealing with customers and clients
o With excellent communication skills and can relate well with people
Specific Business Knowledge:
o Computer literate and is well-versed in operating MS Applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
o Has the ability to work under pressure with good analytical skills.
