Technical Lead

Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Technical Lead - Node.js / Angular / AWS (Freight Technology Platform) to drive the development and evolution of our next-generation Freight industry platform. This platform will be used by Freight Forwarders to manage and optimise their operations.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned full-stack developer with strong leadership skills, deep technical expertise and the ability to work seamlessly across front-end, back-end, and cloud environments. You will lead and mentor development teams, collaborate closely with the Solutions Architect to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions, and take full ownership of the end-to-end technical stack. This role requires a balance of strategic technical oversight and active coding.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead and oversee development efforts across multiple teams (front-end and back-end).
• Own the full technical stack, ensuring architectural consistency, performance, security, and scalability.
• Collaborate with the Solutions Architect to design and implement solutions aligned with business objectives.
• Establish and promote best practices in development, testing, DevOps, and cloud architecture.
  
  

Hands-on Development

• Actively develop features across both front-end (React) and back-end (Node.js, IBM MQ, API development) components.
• Design and implement microservices and API integrations to support platform functionality.
• Develop and maintain data models and schemas using PostgreSQL as the primary relational database.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the stack.
• Peer review code of team members where required and supply guidance and recommendations on best practice solutions that is future proof and scalable.
  
  

Team Collaboration & Delivery

• Work closely with business analysts, product owners, and QA to ensure high-quality, timely delivery of platform capabilities.
• Mentor developers and foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
• Support sprint planning, code reviews, and architectural discussions.
  
  

Platform Ownership

• Take responsibility for the full technical ecosystem, including infrastructure, integrations, and services within AWS.
• Ensure the platform is designed with scalability, resilience, and security in mind for Freight industry use cases.
• Stay informed of emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance platform performance and maintainability.
  
  

Documentation and reporting

• Maintain detailed documentation of technical designs, APIs, and system configurations.
• Report project progress, issues, and risks to management and stakeholders.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing through technical documentation, presentations, or workshops.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Technical Lead or Senior Full-Stack Developer in complex, enterprise-grade environments.
• Strong development expertise in: Back-end: Node.js, IBM MQ, RESTful API design and integration, microservices architecture, Front-end: React (latest versions preferred), Database: PostgreSQL (schema design, optimisation, migrations) and Cloud: AWS services for hosting, scaling, monitoring, and integrating microservices
• Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures, CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes desirable), and serverless patterns.
• Must be familiar with ORG structure / OIDC authentication mechanisms e.g. keycloak
• Experience working with event-driven or messaging architectures (IBM MQ or equivalent).
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience in or knowledge of the Freight / Logistics industry is advantageous but not essential.
