About The Role
A Specialist Risk owns and executes critical Price and Credit risk activities and controls across BHP’s commercial activities, in particular sales and marketing.
Inquisitive and curious, you deliver portfolio level risk insights and trends to the commercial and risk teams, leveraging financial modelling, product control and risk valuation methodologies.

About The Role
A Specialist Risk owns and executes critical Price and Credit risk activities and controls across BHP’s commercial activities, in particular sales and marketing.
Inquisitive and curious, you deliver portfolio level risk insights and trends to the commercial and risk teams, leveraging financial modelling, product control and risk valuation methodologies.
- Daily curve upload, risk runs, margin reconciliation, price reporting reconciliations, and daily, weekly and monthly trading profit and loss reporting
- Credit assessment for commercial counterparties, daily credit excess checks, credit limit/block monitoring and routine credit reporting
- Continuous improvement of risk controls, processes and reporting, and support of associated management of change processes
- Development of tools and reporting to enhance portfolio-level risk insights
- Monitoring and analysis of the commercial portfolio, including trend and exception analysis.
- Champion a culture of assurance through governance, supported by insightful analysis and risk reporting and exemplified by strong stakeholder relationships.
- Continuous engagement with the commercial teams to provide, maintain and continuously improve risk understanding.
- Curious, with high learning agility that enables you to frame complex problems and use data and insight to solve them.
- Good communicator, both verbally & written, with the ability to articulate risk exposures, financial analysis and complex scenarios using simple terms for non-technical audience, to influence positive business outcomes, while highlighting the key economic effects.
- Degree qualified, with at least 3 years working experience in price or credit risk management, product control, internal audit, treasury, commodity trading or data analytics, preferably in commodity, financial or banking industries
- Experience and understanding of risk management principles and their application
- Experience in the practical application of core financial and accounting concepts, preferably gained in banking, trading or commodities
- Strong analytical skills, including financial modelling
- Proficiency in Microsoft excel is required, with data analytics, data science or coding skills being favourably viewed
