Your Role:

As An SMP Estimator, You Will

• Oversee the preparation of estimates and submission of tenders.
• Ensure costs for estimates include high level of detail including labour, material, realistic timing and cost structures.
• Research and review construction and design documents and analyse specifications to determine estimated costs.
• Critically analyse bid documents and identify risks and opportunities, communicating these to management.
• Solicit subcontractor bids and supplier quotations and compare against internal estimates.
• Recommend and incorporate cost-reduction options for higher bid competitiveness.
• Identify and evaluate technical issues related to project requirements.
• Complete forecast and tender cost reporting.
• Proactively identify and manage contract risks to meet organisational obligations.
• Ensure legislative, pre-contract and commercial obligations are met in tender submissions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship within the estimating team.
  
  

What You Need:

Non-negotiables

• Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Proficiency in MS Excel
• Demonstrated experience as an SMP Estimator or similar role
• Experience preparing tender submissions, cost estimates, and basic schedules
• Strong understanding of contract documents, specifications, and drawings
• Experience handling RFI processes with clients and subcontractors
• Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
• Commitment to confidentiality and values-based conduct
  
  

Preferred skills/expertise

• Postgraduate Degree
• Experience in the civil/construction industry
• FIFO experience in remote project environments
• Strong negotiation and influencing capabilities
• Self-driven with strong initiative
