Senior Software Developer - Remote

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to join our innovative team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing both simple and complex software solutions using recognized methodologies and patterns. You will work collaboratively within a geographically distributed team, ensuring that solutions meet high standards of quality and functionality. The role also involves developing intuitive web UIs and maintaining legacy systems during transition phases.

Role Responsibilities & Expectations

• Solution Design & Development: Design and develop software solutions for complex problems using established methodologies and design patterns.
• Code Quality: Deliver high-quality code that meets both functional requirements and code quality standards.
• Collaboration: Work effectively within a geographically distributed team, contributing to collective goals and maintaining clear and effective communication.
• Web UI Development: Develop user-friendly and intuitive web interfaces to enhance user experience and application functionality.
• Legacy System Maintenance: Manage and maintain legacy systems during transition phases, with a focus on reducing reliance over time.
  
  

Skills & Experience

• Proficiency in C++, Java, PHP, C#, Python, Relational DB’s such as MS SQL, ASP.NET
• Designing (RESTful) APIs for integration with other services
• Experience of constructing software using loose coupling high cohesion, through APIs, streams, queues
• Knowledge of secure software development practices (OWASP)
• Familiarity with Cloud technologies (Serverless, Cloud Services, Docker, Kubernetes etc.)
• Experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS)
• Experience using Elastic Search would be favorable
• Knowledge of Web front-end technologies (e.g. HTML, CSS, React, Angular, TypeScript)
• Worked in an Agile (Scrum) development environment
• Knowledge of the freight or export industry would be advantageous
• Experience working within a CI/CD environment
• Knowledge of non-relational DB’s would be highly regarded
• Good problem-solving skills
• Passion for learning new technologies and approaches but the willingness to maintain legacy systems short term
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.
• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing and overcoming challenges.
• Adaptability: Passion for learning new technologies and methodologies, with a willingness to manage legacy systems as needed.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience in software development
• Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python
• Experience with software development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
