Who You Are
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Ruby on Rails Developer with the skills to become a foundational member of our engineering team in a new region. You are an organized, clear communicator with engineering lead or management experience, and you thrive working both independently and with remote teams. You’ll take full ownership of your projects, ensuring quality and efficiency, and bring a strong character to help stabilize and grow our presence locally. This role is ideal for someone who combines technical expertise with a high level of initiative and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. If successful, this role could serve as the base for establishing a local office around you.

Key Responsibilities
Development & Architecture
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance web applications using Ruby on Rails, adhering to best practices and high coding standards.
- Collaborate closely with remote teams, providing clear and proactive communication to align on project objectives and technical specifications.
- Lead development of core features, taking full responsibility for project execution, quality control, and deployment.
- Support and mentor junior developers, setting an example in code quality, work organization, and communication.
- Serve as a stabilizing influence and positive leader, helping establish a strong local team culture and setting the stage for future team expansion.
- Use strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, projects, and timelines, ensuring transparency and progress in remote collaboration.
- Work with product and engineering teams to improve processes and drive continuous development excellence.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and insights clearly to team members and stakeholders in English.
- Stay current with industry trends, technology advancements, and best practices to ensure Avvoka's platform remains competitive.
- Represent Avvoka at local events and conferences to help establish our brand and expand our network within the tech community.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years of experience in Ruby on Rails development, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Proven experience in a leadership or management role within an engineering team.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage complex projects independently.
- Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English and a proactive approach to collaboration.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience working in a startup or scale-up environment.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to make strategic decisions with a long-term vision.
- A passion for technology’s potential to transform industries, especially in legal tech.
