Role Overview

The Senior Growth Manager is tasked with leading the strategy, execution, experimentation, and workforce planning necessary to drive user growth. This role includes overseeing a cross-functional team comprising growth marketers, Sales Development Representatives (SDRs), onboarding agents, and customer success representatives to achieve subscriber targets.

Key Responsibilities

Growth Strategy & Execution:

  • Design comprehensive acquisition strategies for the SMB and self-employed markets,leveragingtarget audience insights, competitive analysis, and market trends.
  • Execute campaigns across multiple channels including digital marketing, social media, email marketing, partnerships, SEO, PPC, content marketing, influencer outreach, and referral programs.
  • Optimizethe full funnel frominitialawareness to paid conversion to ensure seamless user experiences;utilizetools like Google Analytics, HubSpot, or Marketo for tracking and optimization.
  • Develop detailed quarterly and annual plans, aligning initiatives with overall businessobjectives, and setting clear KPIs for each campaign.
  • Regularly analyze metrics such as user acquisition rates, conversion rates, engagement scores, retention rates, and LTV to evaluate campaign performance and inform strategic decisions; generate detailed reports for executive review.

Experimentation & Iteration

  • Conduct ongoing growth experiments across various digital and offline channels, documenting hypotheses, methodologies, and results.
  • Develop hypotheses, design tests, measure results, and iterate based on outcomes; leverage platforms like Optimizely or VWO for experimentation.
  • Encourage a culture of testing, learning, and scaling successfulinitiatives;foster innovation through regular brainstorming sessions and pilot programs.

Team Leadership & Workforce Planning

  • Lead, mentor, and manage growth teams to achieve subscriber growth targets; provide clear direction, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Create and execute workforce plans to ensureoptimalteam structure and resourceallocation;conduct resource audits and skill gap analyses.
  • Support professional development and collaboration within the team; organize training sessions, workshops, and team-building activities.

Onboarding & Lifecycle Ownership

  • Ensure engaging onboarding processes that convert trial users to paid subscribers; refine onboarding messaging, workflows, and user interfaces.
  • Implement lifecycle marketing strategies to enhance user engagement and retention; utilize CRM systems for personalized communication and campaign automation.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce churn and increase the lifetime value of subscribers; develop loyalty programs, upsell/cross-sell strategies, and re-engagement campaigns.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with product, marketing, and operations teams to refine and improve acquisition processes; participate in inter-departmental meetings and strategy sessions.
  • Align growth initiatives with overall business objectives and product roadmaps; contribute to roadmap development and quarterly planning cycles.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination across departments to drive cohesive efforts; establish regular touchpoints and cross-functional projects.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in customer success or account management, demonstrating a deep understanding of user needs, expectations, and satisfaction drivers.
  • Understanding of the SaaS lifecycle, including acquisition, onboarding, retention, and expansion; familiar with industry best practices and emerging trends.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with internal and external stakeholders; adept at presenting complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and CRM systems to inform strategic decisions and optimize performance; skilled in using tools such as Salesforce, Tableau, or Looker.
  • Strategic thinker with problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges; able to navigate ambiguity and make informed decisions under pressure.
  • 5-7 years of related experience in senior-level roles demonstrating leadership and strategic impact; track record of driving significant growth and achieving ambitious targets.
  • 7+ years of experience in growth, performance marketing, or customer acquisition within B2C or B2SMB SaaS environments; extensive knowledge of digital marketing channels and tactics.
  • Track record in successfully scaling subscriber bases and reducing CAC through innovative strategies; evidence of impactful campaigns and sustained growth.
  • Expertise in team leadership and workforce planning to enable high-performance teams; experienced in talent acquisition, development, and retention.
