Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant prepares financial statements, tax returns, and compliance reports for Australian clients, including companies, trusts, partnerships, SMSFs, and sole traders. The role ensures accurate ledger entries, supports audits, budgeting, and forecasting, and drives process improvements in line with Australian accounting standards.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare tax returns, financial statements, and compliance reports for companies, trusts, partnerships, SMSFs, and sole traders.

• Review BAS, FBT, GST, and SMSF returns.

• Liaise with the ATO regarding tax matters.

• Manage general ledger integrity and oversee month-end/year-end close.

• Prepare cash flow forecasts, management reports, and variance analyses.

• Oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and fixed asset registers.

• Support budgeting and forecasting processes.

• Drive process improvements and support internal controls and audits.

• Use Xero and Xero Practice Manager.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Australian accounting firm.

• CPA or CA qualified (or currently completing certification).

• Proficient in Xero and Excel (advanced formulas).

• Strong technical knowledge of Australian tax and accounting standards (AASB).

• Experience in property tax and SMFSs returns.
