Summary
We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting team. The Staff Accountant will have a range of responsibilities encompassing US GAAP compliance. This individual will primarily support the SEC and Technical accounting leads, which involves supporting the quarterly accounting close and partnering with other colleagues to create accurate, complete, and timely consolidated financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
The ideal candidate has strong skills in the following areas: attention to detail, independent project management, communication, relationship-building and collaboration with cross-functional partners, professional judgment, teamwork, and the desire to become an accounting and reporting subject matter expert across a variety of topics. This position will require travel to our headquarters in San Mateo and 1-2 days a week in your local office.

Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Primary preparer of supporting external reporting schedules, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K Ex. 99.1, PRE 14A and/or DEF 14A (Proxy), S-8, government statutory reporting, and other public-facing financial reporting as required.
- Responsible for the earnings release process, including preparation of the quarterly management reporting package and review of financial information included in the earnings release and call script.
- Assist in preparation of quarterly filings using a single-source master workbook in wDesk or Workiva (SEC filing tool); assist with iXBRL tagging review and filing process.
- Prepare journal entries and reconciliations in assigned areas (e.g. stock-based compensation, software capitalization); prepare the statement of cash flows, equity rollforward, EPS calculation, leases, and other schedules as required.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with SEC and U.S. GAAP reporting requirements; prepare and manage the review of the quarterly and annual disclosure checklist for external auditors.
- Act as a technical accounting resource by assisting with research, resolving, and documenting accounting issues that arise during the quarter as well as help implement new accounting standards.
- Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley requirements are met for relevant areas (e.g. disclosure and equity accounting controls) on a timely basis.
- Provide assistance with special projects as required.
- BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience; mix of Big 4 public accounting and industry experience preferred.
- Highly detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, and proactive with a strong work ethic to meet critical deadlines.
- Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills that can work independently.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills including the ability to research, discuss accounting guidance, and draft accounting memos to support conclusions.
- Excellent team player who can work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google suite required.
- Knowledge and proficient experience with wDesk/Workiva and Oracle Fusion highly preferred.
