The Safety, Health and Environment (SHE), Security and Facilities Officer is responsible for overarching facility management, which includes managing the office building, security, space management, and company vehicles, all aimed at safeguarding company assets and ensuring a safe working environment. They are also responsible for managing local Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) systems, as well as business continuity management in compliance with local legislation and SHE policy. This role extends to leading the development and implementation of local SHE initiatives in collaboration with the One Roche Leadership Teams.

As a SHE Security and Facilities Officer, you will oversee SHE, facility, and business continuity operations across the Pharma, Diagnostics, and Diabetes Care business. You will report directly to the General Manager and be a crucial member of the Emergency Management Team, participating in Affiliate Governance Committee meetings as necessary.

What you will be working on:

  • SHE Objectives and Goals: Promote SHE activities in alignment with local and global Roche SHE objectives, monitor legal compliance, and ensure corrective actions are reviewed and implemented
  • Advisory and Support: Advise and support site senior and line management on SHE-related topics and concerns, promoting compliance with local legal regulations and Roche SHE provisions
  • Emergency Management: Lead and facilitate the emergency management team, develop and manage the local (Roche internal) emergency management system, and advise external emergency response teams during incidents
  • Training and Documentation: Develop and provide SHE training for all employees, prepare and maintain the SHE handbook, and establish a system for receiving, documenting, and responding to SHE-related reports and complaints
  • Risk Analysis and Audits: Implement and document a risk analysis process, conduct periodic SHE inspections, and report critical SHE situations, accidents, incidents, and occupational injuries
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor and document the implementation of SHE programs, emissions, energy and material use, and the progress of actions related to SHE goals, providing regular reports on SHE KPIs
  • Financial and External Relations: Manage financial provisions for health and environmental liabilities with the finance department, and establish and maintain contacts with local SHE authorities, professional organizations, and the public while leading the Business Continuity Management Team
  • Facility and Maintenance Management: Ensure the facility is fully operational with all utilities functioning properly, schedule and supervise maintenance and repair work, implement waste management, oversee office renovations, and ensure legally required documents and permits are available
  • Security Management: Support and advise senior management, line management, and employees on all security matters, ensure compliance with legal security regulations and Roche requirements, manage critical security situations, and establish contacts with law enforcement and professional organizations
  • Involvement in Projects: Participate in major projects, including design phases, to represent and integrate security considerations and requirements, and report critical security incidents to superiors and the Chief Security Officer
  • Fleet Management: Oversee fleet management, including planning, managing, coordinating, and supervising the acquisition, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of fleet vehicles

Who You Are:

With your SHE expertise and a customer centric mindset, you can identify areas to improve in order to mitigate risks and ensure a safe and healthy working environment. You are a trustworthy person of absolute integrity, who demonstrates a natural authority. You have:

  • 6+ years’ or equivalent level of experience on managing SHE and programs including handling audit experience is required
  • A Bachelor’s degrees or equivalent in Engineering or related SHE studies or professional certifications (preferred)
  • Experience in working with local regulatory authorities in Safety & Security matters (preferred)
  • Good project management skills with technical sensitivity
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working within a globally diverse team
