JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible in monitoring the adherence of maintenance operations to the quality and safety standards set forth by the company, the customers, the OEM, CAAP and other relevant Aviation Authority through regular surveillance and inspection. Analyzes the results of surveillance trends and recommends corrective and preventive actions ensure improvement of operational systems and processes.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs in-process inspection on aircraft, engines and components undergoing repair, overhaul, or alteration to assure compliance with governing specifications and procedures and with accepted quality standards and practices.
  • Accomplishes final inspection on aircraft as required by Customer to verify that a final visual check for completeness & functional check have been made and that all work and/or inspections performed or required to be performed have been signed for and that no known defects exist that would render aircraft, engine, or component un-airworthy.
  • Notes discrepancies and condition or operational malfunction for corrections, adjustments or repairs and screens defects with prescribes immediate correction on any discrepancy discovered during in process or final inspection.
  • Determines defects, unsatisfactory and unsafe conditions present in aircraft and diagnoses their causes to identify areas or systems where corrective actions are necessary. Provides reference limitation if needed for defects or damage found on the aircraft.
  • Performs inspection coverage during component changes, tests and adjustments on airframe and power plant systems consistent with the quality standards.
  • Performs shakedown/preliminary inspection on aircraft/engine, component, accessories & appliances to determine their state of preservation & detect any defect, malfunction, or damage.
  • Reviews or signs off work accomplished on all maintenance documents.
  • Performs inspection coverage on modification, repair, and alterations to satisfy manufacturer, customer, and government regulatory specifications.
  • In the event of unscheduled maintenance, endeavors to support operational requirement without violating rest and duty limitations.
  • Performs initial investigation, carries out root cause analysis and provides recommendation on events/occurrences during surveillance or customer related concerns.
  • Approves or certifies the “Return-to-Service” of aircraft as per customer and regulatory requirements on assign task.
  • Assists customer, lessor, and aviation authority personnel during their aircraft inspection /visit/audit.
  • Accomplishes Inspection Technical Reports as well as deviation reports required in the APPC APM / Customer MCM
  • Complies with applicable regulatory and standards of APPC; actively involve with APPC Safety Management System by reporting all accident, incidents, and any hazard in the workplace; and being safety conscious by exerting duty of care in the performance of duties.
  • Performs all safety responsibilities as required by the APPC Safety Management Manual.
  • Accountable for the safekeep, and proper use of resources assigned under his / her name.
  • In the absence of Supervisor QCI, he / she may act as OIC Supervisor QCI.
  • Performs other duties as maybe assigned by Supervisor / Manager – Quality Control Inspection.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • College graduate preferably Engineering or other aviation technical courses
  • Holder of current CAAPAMT / AMS license
  • Must have completed the minimum training requirement per APLUS approved manual and the following training courses or equivalent, within two

(2) years form the time he/she assumes position:

  • Human Factors& Error Management
  • Safety Management System
  • Aviation Quality Management or equivalent
  • PCAR Training
  • Supervisory Skills (Leadership)
  • Other related aviation regulation training
  • AMO and Repair Station Manuals

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years minimum experience as Certifying Staff (RTS) for at least 1 aircraft type serviced by APPC.
  • Entry level at least A/C Mechanic A (Aircraft Maintenance Engineer 2)


  • Adequate knowledge of quality and safety management system.
  • Adequate knowledge of the safety and technical investigation process.
  • Adequate knowledge of the Philippine Civil Aviation Regulations and relevant aviation regulations.
  • Advance knowledge of aircraft systems.

  • People Skills – Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to summarize complex technical matters. Must be able to represent APPC confidently and professionally to customers and relevant authority.

  • Flexibility – Able to adapt to untoward situations without disregarding acceptable standards. Self-motivated and able to get results with minimal supervision and oversight.
  • Decision Making Skills – Able to decide the right course of action concerning the section with minimal intervention from superior. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership – Able to influence colleagues and other people to ensure that the processes and procedures are followed as per established standards.
  • Computer skills with Word, Excel, etc.
  • Inspection, Surveillance and investigation skills.
