Job Description
The PMO Lead - responsible for strategically overseeing and enhancing project management practices specifically for Transport Backbone projects . This role has a significant focus on Core IP, Core Optics, Core Backbone OSP, Access and Distribution Projects, Data Centers, and Hyperscaler projects. Reporting directly to the Head of PMO, this individual will establish, implement, and ensure adherence to PMO standards, methodologies, and governance frameworks for all relevant projects. The PMO Lead will collaborate closely with the PMO Head, Transport Backbone Project Managers, Planning, Engineering and Vendors to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of these projects. This role drives consistency, transparency, and continuous improvement within this core area of the business.

Job Description
The PMO Lead - responsible for strategically overseeing and enhancing project management practices specifically for Transport Backbone projects . This role has a significant focus on Core IP, Core Optics, Core Backbone OSP, Access and Distribution Projects, Data Centers, and Hyperscaler projects. Reporting directly to the Head of PMO, this individual will establish, implement, and ensure adherence to PMO standards, methodologies, and governance frameworks for all relevant projects. The PMO Lead will collaborate closely with the PMO Head, Transport Backbone Project Managers, Planning, Engineering and Vendors to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of these projects. This role drives consistency, transparency, and continuous improvement within this core area of the business.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Drive Continuous Improvement of PMO Framework: Spearhead the continuous assessment and refinement of the project management framework, methodologies, templates, and processes used for Transport Backbone projects. This involves actively seeking feedback, analyzing performance data, and incorporating industry best practices to ensure the framework effectively supports the unique lifecycles and dependencies of IP, Optics, OSP, access/distribution, data center, and hyperscaler deployments and upgrades.
- Governance and Compliance Oversight: Ensure all Transport Backbone projects adhere to established PMO governance frameworks, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. Monitor compliance and escalate any deviations to the Head of PMO and relevant stakeholders.
- Portfolio Management Support: Work with the Head of PMO and Transport Backbone Project Managers to support the prioritization, planning, and tracking of the combined project portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. This includes managing projects across Core IP, Core Optics, Core Backbone OSP, Access and Distribution, Data Centers, and Hyperscaler projects.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to Transport Backbone projects. Develop and generate regular, insightful reports and dashboards for the PMO Head, Project Managers and Department Head, highlighting progress, risks, and areas for improvement across all project.
- Risk and Issue Management Leadership: Provide guidance and support to project managers in the identification, assessment, mitigation, and tracking of project risks and issues within the Transport Backbone domains. Escalate critical risks and issues to the Head of PMO and relevant stakeholders, with a focus on potential impacts to network stability, performance, and service delivery.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as a key point of contact between the Project Managers, Planning, Engineering and Operations, fostering strong relationships and ensuring effective communication and alignment on project deliverables
- Training and Mentoring: Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to project managers and team members within the Transport Backbone department on PMO standards, methodologies, and best practices.
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement within the Transport Backbone project delivery lifecycle and work with the Head of PMO to implement changes that enhance efficiency and effectiveness in deploying and upgrading network infrastructure.
- Tool and Technology Adoption: Champion the adoption and effective utilization of existing digital and automation tools within the Transport Backbone department, ensuring data accuracy and consistency for all project types.
- Vendor Performance Management: Continuously improve and implement a framework for managing the performance of vendors involved in Transport Backbone projects. This includes defining key performance indicators (KPIs) for vendors, monitoring their performance against these KPIs, and taking corrective action as needed to ensure vendors are meeting their contractual obligations and contributing effectively to project success.
- Support Strategic Initiatives: Contribute to strategic PMO initiatives and projects as directed by the Head of PMO, providing Transport Backbone insights and expertise.
- Project Dashboards: monitoring project progress against build plan, monitoring lead indicators and driving success vs monthly targets.
- Process Alignment and Documentation: Standardized project management processes and procedures.
- Performance and Data Analysis Reports: Detailed analysis and regular reports on project performance and risk management.
