Overview
The Power BI Developer is a specialized technical role within the Business Intelligence team that reports directly to the Director of Business Intelligence. This position is essential in creating, maintaining, and optimizing Power BI dashboards and reports that drive data-driven decision-making across the organization. The developer will be responsible for translating business requirements into compelling visual analytics solutions, ensuring that stakeholders have access to accurate, timely, and actionable insights through well-designed Power BI applications.
In collaboration with the BI Director, data engineers, business analysts, and end users across the organization, the Power BI Developer will lead dashboard development initiatives and maintain the Power BI service infrastructure. They will play a key role in establishing visualization best practices, managing Power BI deployments, and working closely with stakeholders to deliver user-friendly analytics solutions. This role demands a technically proficient professional with strong SQL skills and extensive Power BI experience, along with a proactive attitude toward continuous improvement and innovation in data visualization.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards and reports that meet business requirements and provide actionable insight.
- Write complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and prepare data for Power BI visualizations from various data sources
- Implement Power BI best practices including DAX calculations, data modeling, and performance optimization
- Deploy and administer Power BI Service, managing workspaces, datasets, reports, and user access permissions
- Configure and maintain Power BI gateway connections and data refresh schedules
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective visual analytics solutions
- Create interactive and user-friendly dashboards with intuitive navigation and compelling data storytelling.
- Develop and maintain data models optimized for Power BI performance and scalability
- Implement row-level security and other Power BI security features as needed
- Integrate Power BI solutions with GCP and BigQuery data sources when required
- Provide training and support to end users on Power BI functionality and report usage
- Monitor Power BI service performance, usage metrics, and capacity management
- Troubleshoot and resolve Power BI technical issues and user requests
- Document Power BI solutions, including technical specifications and user guides
- Stay current with Power BI feature updates and recommend new capabilities to enhance existing solutions
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related technical field
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience developing Power BI dashboards and reports
- Very strong SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
- Extensive experience with Power BI Service deployment and administration
- Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for advanced calculations and measures
- Strong understanding of data modeling principles and best practices for Power BI
- Experience with Power BI gateway configuration and data refresh management
- Knowledge of Power BI security features including row-level security and workspace permissions
- Understanding of data visualization best practices and dashboard design principles
- Experience working with various data sources and connecting them to Power BI
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with ability to work with business stakeholders
- Proactive attitude with strong initiative and self-motivation
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Excellent written and spoken English skills
