Planning & Design Engineer (Solar Power) - Cebu

Reporting to the Planning and Design Manager, this position is responsible for providing technical support for initial project assessments, concept designs, and planning, including cost estimation activities for solar installations. The incumbent will also assist in developing technical specifications and terms of reference and preparing technical reports and evaluations for solar installations. Responsibilities include managing projects, overseeing testing and commissioning of solar installations, and performing troubleshooting and rectification tasks. Additionally, the role involves performing administrative duties within the company’s framework.
Job Description:
- Provides support in the undertaking of technical and feasibility studies including site investigations
- Provides technical inputs in the efficient management of budgets and project resources
- Provides technical assistance in assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of projects
- Provides technical assistance during planning, design and construction stages of projects
- Assists in project management and coordination
- Ensures Health and Safety is in place in in the planning and design of structures
- Ensures that all engineering work is designed, procured and delivered in a safe, managed and lawful manner, compliant with all relevant regulations
- Provides assistance to the team in technical designs for solar, process flow and operations and maintenance facilities in the power plant
- Prepares detailed/conceptual design drawings and documents necessary for construction/bidding
- Assists in resolving design and development problems
- Performs other function-related tasks for the achievement of department and company goals
- Identifies significant problems, discrepancies, inefficient or ineffective methods or practices and develops alternative courses of action and recommends appropriate changes, revisions and solutions where applicable
Qualifications:
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in computer software applications (Windows, MS Office)
- Business and technical writing skills
- Knowledge of local engineering practices
- Understanding of standard principles, methods, and practices in project planning and design
- Awareness of various occupational hazards and safety practices
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with laws, rules, regulations, and relevant program guidelines
- Capability to evaluate operational effectiveness and implement necessary changes
- Strong teamwork skills
- Experience in designing solar rooftop and ground mount systems
- Proficiency with PVSyst, Helioscope, and Rated Power simulation software
