Montefiore Medical Center is proud to announce the upcoming launch of a new acute inpatient psychiatric facility dedicated to providing high-quality, short-term psychiatric care for children and adolescents. This specialized unit will enhance access to timely, developmentally appropriate mental health services, offering a safe, structured, and compassionate environment to support patients in crisis and help stabilize their condition.

As part of our efforts to build a strong, multidisciplinary team, we are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Psychologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide evaluation, assessment, testing, and ongoing treatment of patients with psychiatric conditions across various locations. Responsibilities include maintaining documentation in compliance with the Office of Mental Health, OASAS, and Joint Commission guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete evaluations, assessments, and testing, providing diagnosis and case conceptualizations for patients.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary treatment planning as required.
• Document clinical visits within 72 hours of the appointment.
• Provide ongoing treatment of patients, including psychological testing when appropriate.
• Make referrals for psychopharmacological treatment and request additional specialty consultation when appropriate, including for comorbid medical conditions.
• Maintain practice consistent with the American Psychological Association's Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct.
• Participate in departmental programs related to quality improvement, staff meetings, continuing education, risk management, diversity, and inclusion.
• Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the identification, reporting, and appropriate interventions for survivors of individual and family violence, elder abuse, and child abuse and neglect.
• Conduct crisis assessments and intervene appropriately and safely based on patient’s risk to self, others, or risk of self-neglect or other dangerousness.
  
  

Qualifications

• Education: PhD, PsyD, or EdD degree from an accredited university.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience.
• Completion of Postdoctoral training in Clinical or Health Service Psychology or related field.
• License or Limited Permit issued by the New York State Education Department with continuous registration.
