Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Purchasing Officer to manage and execute purchasing activities, negotiate with vendors, and ensure accurate, timely procurement of materials

and supplies. The ideal candidate will be proactive in sourcing competitive bids, maintaining vendor relationships, and ensuring accuracy in all purchase orders and specifications.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Prepare, issue, and manage purchase orders (POs) for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Actively negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery with vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
  • Manage reorders through a centralized communication system (e.g., Teams group chat), confirming order completion and maintaining visibility for stakeholders.
  • Ensure high accuracy in all purchasing documentation, understanding technical specifications (e.g., bolt specs, part features) and avoiding ordering errors.
  • Utilize NetSuite (or similar ERP system) to create POs, allocate expenses to specific jobs or Bills of Materials (BOMs), and maintain accurate records.
  • Source and evaluate multiple supplier quotes to obtain the best value.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and internal teams to confirm order requirements and priorities.
  • Maintain an organized procurement process and documentation system.
  • Support continuous improvement of purchasing workflows and vendor management practices.

Requirements

Skills/Attributes required:

  • Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management (preferably in a manufacturing or technical environment).
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to interpret technical specifications and product features accurately.
  • Proficiency in NetSuite ERP or similar systems.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and collaborative tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Background in industrial, mechanical, or construction materials purchasing.
  • Experience sourcing technical parts and components (e.g., fasteners, fabricated items, hardware)
