Job Summary: The Patient Account Representative III is responsible for complex insurance verification operations, team support, and leadership in payer relations. This individual plays a critical role in ensuring clean claims by proactively identifying and resolving insurance-related issues. This position leads audits, training, and quality improvement initiatives related to insurance verification and patient access accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the team in resolving complex insurance verification and prior authorization cases.
• Handle escalated issues involving non-standard plans, out-of-network coverage, or disputed eligibility.
• Oversee the insurance verification process for high-volume or high-revenue service lines.
• Audit verification accuracy and recommend process improvements.
• Develop SOPs for verification workflows and train new staff.
• Collaborate with clinical leadership to ensure patients are scheduled appropriately by insurance type.
• Analyze verification turnaround time and success rate; prepare performance reports.
• Liaise with payer reps to clarify ambiguous policy guidelines or coverage concerns.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred; or 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience in leading insurance verification in a healthcare setting.
• Expert knowledge of payer policies, benefits structures, and coordination of benefits.
• Ability to independently manage escalated issues with tact and professionalism.
• Experience in training, mentoring, or leading verification teams.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills.
