About the Role:

You'll be helping our Onboarding Bookkeepers build the member's financial books from scratch. This can include catch-up bookkeeping, clean-up work, and establishing correct beginning balances from the prior year. You'll also help our Onboarding Accountants set up the member's payroll. This can include historical payroll adjustments and mid-year transitions from the member's old payroll software to ours. You'll publish the first set of financial reports for our new members. Many member documents are collected and provided to you, but sometimes you may have to email the member.


Responsibilities:

Specifically, you'll be responsible for:

Help Onboarding Accountants build the member's financial books from scratch. This involves:

  • Catch-up bookkeeping
  • Clean-up work
  • Establishing correct opening balances from the prior year for Remain SC members (Balance sheet Rebuild)

Assist Onboarding Accountants in setting up the member's payroll, which may entail:

  • Historical payroll adjustments
  • Mid-year transitions from the member's old payroll software to Gusto (Payroll Rebuild)

Publish the first set of financial reports for our new members, which includes:

  • Producing Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports
  • Review the books for errors and collaborate with other accountants to address any discrepancies.
  • Communicate with clients via email to collect necessary documents and provide updates on the onboarding progress.
  • Provide assistance to Onboarding Bookkeepers and Onboarding accountants with questions and concerns.
  • Oversee and train new onboarding bookkeepers
  • Contribute to refining onboarding processes and workflows, as well as developing accounting protocols.
  • Supervise the assignments of tasks to onboarding bookkeepers.


What we want you to bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business-related field.
  • 2+ years experience working with Xero and Gusto
  • Solid knowledge of computer software
  • Customer service-oriented, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • People-first attitude, willing to help members and teammates alike.


Bonus Points if you have: (Optional)

  • Gusto People Advisor Certified.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
