We are seeking a technically accomplished and proactive Network Security Engineer to join our Manila-based team at Cambridge University Press & Assessment, aligned to UK working hours. In this key role, you will design and manage secure network infrastructures across on-premise and cloud environments. From firewalls and IDS/IPS to VPNs and web application security, your work ensures resilience against evolving threats while supporting seamless business operations. What will you do as a Network Security Engineer?

As a Network Security Engineer, you will fortify our network infrastructure against cyber threats, enabling safe and robust connectivity.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing, hardening, and auditing network architectures (on-premises and cloud).
• Managing firewalls, IDS/IPS, secure VPNs, and web application firewalls (WAF).
• Leading incident response, log analysis, and coordination with the SOC.
• Monitoring and remediating malicious network activity in real-time.
• Configuring and reviewing network traffic filters, change controls, and access rules.
• Supporting DDoS defence, vulnerability assessments, and Zero Trust implementations.
• Ensuring compliance with regulations such as ISO 27001, CIS, and GDPR.
• Guiding audits and improving network security tooling and visibility

What makes you the ideal candidate for this role?

An ideal candidate has the following qualities:

• A degree and 5+ years of experience in a network security role or equivalent technical discipline.
• Strong knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and secure VPN architecture.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and protocols securing hybrid cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Proficiency in managing tools such as Nmap, Metasploit, or Wireshark.
• Experience with Zero Trust models, segmentation, and encryption techniques.
• Relevant Infrastructure and/or security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCNA, CND, CEH, CompTIA).
• Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
