We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Insurance Verification Specialist with specialization in physical therapy clinics to join our healthcare team. As a crucial member of our administrative staff, you will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage and ensuring accurate billing processes specifically within the context of physical therapy services. The ideal candidate should have a thorough understanding of medical insurance procedures, strong communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits for physical therapy services, including eligibility, copays, deductibles, and any pre-authorization requirements.
  • Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to obtain and clarify insurance information.
  • Ensure all insurance verification information is accurately documented in patient records and billing systems.
  • Collaborate with billing and coding teams to ensure accurate submission of claims and resolve any insurance-related discrepancies or denials.
  • Stay updated on insurance policies, regulations, and procedural changes relevant to physical therapy services.
  • Assist patients in understanding their insurance coverage and financial responsibilities related to physical therapy treatments.
  • Provide support to front desk staff and clinicians regarding insurance-related inquiries and patient scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Insurance Verification Specialist, preferably within a physical therapy clinic or similar healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in verifying various types of insurance plans, including private, commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems (e.g., CPT, ICD-10).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently while adhering to deadlines.
