What You'll Do

As a Markets Operations, you will be entrusted with overseeing the daily functions that underpin investment operations across various business units. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve coordinating resources efficiently to ensure optimal performance while maintaining budgetary discipline. You will act as a trusted advisor for both internal colleagues and external partners by providing timely guidance on complex operational issues.   • Oversee the effective and efficient execution of all investment operations activities, providing comprehensive support to multiple offices within the organisation’s network.
  • Manage resource allocation strategically to maximise synergy across teams while maintaining strict adherence to departmental budgets.
  • Offer expert advice and guidance on operational matters, handling queries promptly to meet client needs and exceed expectations.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with clients, prime brokers, clearing brokers, vendors, custodians, and other key stakeholders.
  • Communicate critical actions clearly to relevant parties such as Client Dealer Support teams, vendors, brokers, and custodians to ensure transparency and alignment.
  • Identify individual training needs within the team and foster an environment of continuous learning by establishing positive internal relationships.
  • Ensure all operational processes comply fully with internal procedures, key controls, audit requirements, functional instruction manuals, external regulations, and risk prevention measures.
  • Monitor current procedures and checklists regularly to guarantee compliance with audit standards and operational risk controls.
  • Collaborate closely with local and regional management as well as cross-functional teams to deliver robust operational solutions that drive efficiency.
  • Champion best practices in risk assessment, control implementation, and testing to uphold the integrity of the operation.

What You Bring

To excel as a Markets Operations you will bring substantial experience from similar roles within major financial institutions where you have managed complex trade support or middle office functions. Your background should include deep familiarity with fund service models alongside hands-on proficiency using industry-standard platforms for investment operations. You will have developed specialist knowledge around derivatives—particularly over-the-counter products—and possess practical insight into securities trading confirmations using modern messaging protocols like SWIFT. Your approachability combined with excellent interpersonal skills enables you to connect easily with colleagues at all levels while building trust-based relationships externally.   • Hands-on expertise operating systems such as Calypso, HSBCNet, Multifonds, Markit Enterprise Data Management, TradeFlow or Aladdin would be advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of derivative management gained within investment banking or fund services industries is required; specific exposure to over-the-counter derivative products is preferred.
  • Familiarity with securities trading confirmation processes including settlement procedures, electronic trade confirmations (ETC), and SWIFT settlement message types is important.
  • Proven ability to manage teams effectively by fostering collaboration across diverse groups at varying levels of seniority in multiple geographies is vital.
  • Strong skills in risk assessment along with experience implementing control frameworks and conducting operational testing are necessary for this position.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills enabling you to build rapport quickly with clients as well as internal stakeholders are expected.
