Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration

Compensation range: 2,500 to 3,000 AUD / Month

Contract Type: Independent Contractor Agreement; Full-Time; Remote

The client is a long-standing business advisory firm that partners with entrepreneurs and small business owners to improve financial clarity and long-term growth. With years of hands-on experience, they focus on identifying operational challenges, creating effective solutions, and guiding clients toward smarter financial decisions. Their approach combines strategic insight and practical support to help businesses stay organized, financially healthy, and ready for future opportunities.


Role Overview:

The client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Management Accountant - Team Leader to join their consultancy firm that provides bookkeeping and business advisory services to Australian clients. This role requires someone who can work independently, manage complex financial tasks, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records. You will handle a wide range of accounting functions, including month-end adjustments, reconciliations, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting knowledge, experience with Australian firms, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and team collaboration.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process month-end adjustments, including accruals, WIP, provisions, prepayments, perpetual inventory, manual adjustments, loans, and amortisation.
  • Review data files and perform full ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review BAS statements in compliance with Australian tax regulations.
  • Assist in preparing annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports.
  • Perform data entry and processing tasks as required.
  • Provide training and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable work environment.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting principles and best practices.
  • Collaborate with management to improve processes and enhance overall efficiency.


Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably within Australian firms.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of key accounting principles, including accruals, WIP, provisions, prepayments, perpetual inventory, manual adjustments, loans, and amortisation.
  • Skilled in processing month-end adjustments and performing ledger reconciliations.
  • Proficient in preparing budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports.
  • Solid knowledge of GST and general Australian tax principles.
  • Experience using Xero is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to train and support other team members.

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
